So the pages came today, that last version of the book prior to print. The next step is holding the actual novel in hand. For now, I have 407 pages to peruse. I open the envelopes that have been Fedexed overnight and put all the pages together. And because I’d rather be playing in my sunny garden like Lark in the novel, I run out into the eighty degree day and gather up handfuls of my favorite flowers and herbs and one especially lovely chocolate-colored sunflower.
First line: As the sun slid from the sky, Lark pressed her back into the pockmarked cliff on the island’s west shore.
Last line: Truly, there was nothing she could possibly ask for other than him and this very hallowed moment.
What a unexpected surprise Laura!
Giving us a taste ahead of your fascinating novel leaves me longing for more… God, let me feel as blessed one day as to utter the same words as your heroine!
Beautiful, Diana! Thank you for being here. I must join you in your desire to utter those same words. If not here, heaven surely! Can’t wait to see this book in print. I’m doing a final reading now and have only a few more pages. God is so good to give us the gift of fiction that honors Him!
As a native Kansan (the sunflower state) I have never seen a chocolate-colored sunflower before. STUNNING!! I can almost smell the aroma of these beautiful flowers and herbs, as I inhale the fragrance of these ‘teaser’ lines. Looking forward to reading Lark’s story from beginning to happily ever after ending.
Amy, I LOVE Kansas! Endless acres of sunflowers are just my kind of dreamy – more than the endless woods of the Pacific Northwest. Think of the sunrises and sunsets in KS! We came through an epic thunder and lightning storm in June on our way through KS to WA State. WOW! Happy to be the proud owner of one chocolate sunflower :). The rest are kind of orangey, rusty brown. Happy Friday, dear friend! So happy you’re ready to meet Lark and her laird!
Loved the flowers, and I can’t wait to read this newest book.
I think you and Lark may well be kindred spirits, Carissa. At least I hope you feel that way, too!
What a delicious teaser! I’m about to sink into serious withdrawal waiting for my next “Laura Frantz Novel” fix. It cannot come too soon!
Dear Clyde, You have such a way with words, dear friend and kindred spirit. I’m so thankful you’re ready to read this next one. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it. It even kept my attention after yet another final reading which I hope is a good sign. Hugs and happy reading to you!
This is just gorgeous, Laura, like everything else you have a hand in. Sigh. You know I read and loved this book already, but this beautiful reminder makes me long to be whisked away to Scotland all over again. Blessings to you as you make final edits!
Dear Jocelyn, So happy you’re here and please forgive the delay! My feet have finally touched ground again after flying and it’s so nice to find you here đŸ™‚ Yes, those edits are in and I know you can say the same thing with a grateful heart. Here’s to our next historical novels and 2018! God is so good to bless us with the gift of fiction and friendship!
