Only 5 more Tuesdays till A BOUND HEART releases!
Cover art is like chocolate to me and so this image makes me smile. Add in snow, one of my favorite things, and I felt prompted to start a Tuesday countdown till release day.
This 10th novel has a cover that even my agent called ‘sumptuous.’ It’s so true of the Scotland I’ve experienced in person and on the page. I hope you think so, too! Revell goes to great lengths to create a cover faithful to the story, working with a designer & modeling agency to find the red-tressed (is that even a word?) model, Emily, resembling the heroine, Lark MacDougall. A plaid shawl was also ordered from Scotland for the photo shoot and a costume was rented resembling what would have been worn in the mid-18th-century. Though the model’s back is turned on the cover, you have a lovely new view of her on the spine.
Since the story begins in Scotland and involves both a castle (two of them) and a laird on an island, the scene was set. Add in the moody skies which foreshadow the trouble both hero and heroine find themselves in, and you have the wrapping for this coming-to-America novel based on my family heritage.
Next Tuesday I’ll share my family’s Scottish roots that inspired this story.
Thank you for counting down with me!
I can’t wait to read this!
Jessica, Oh, so hope you love this story! Thank you for being here, ready to read:) Love anything Scottish, including haggis lol!
Delighted (and delightful), Laura! Cannot WAIT to learn more about your Scottish heritage! And meet your new (to us) character!!
Thank you for counting down with me, Susan! You’d think after 10 books all this would get old. Thankfully it does not ๐ You make it more of a joy! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts about our handsome laird and beekeeping heroine…
Always eager for a new book that I am sure is going to be good! Thank you for following your calling!
Writing truly is a calling! When people ask how to write a book I say I honestly don’t know – but God does:)
Believe it or not, I have read all 10 of your beloved books below. In fact some of them I spent years tracking down in used bookstores before in internet made it possible to shop online bookstores. These are keepers. AlsoโThe Lost Generalโ by Elseyth Thane and her Williamsburg series, oh and so many more, I could go on for quite awhile! Thanks for bringing back good memories. I need them these days!
Now I have to get someone to either help me down stairs where my huge book collection is to do some re-reading until your book is out! Have a lovely holiday season!!
Love having you here, Kathy – you always brighten wherever you are! Your library sounds heavenly! I’m happy to add another of mine to your collection. You mention one of my favorite authors of all time – E. Thane ๐ Her series starting in Colonial Williamsburg inspired mine. Thank you for being such an encourager. You mean more than I can say! Praying for you and your loved ones as we near December. You come to mind often and I’m so thankful for you!
Already visualizing the adventure this book is going to take me on! โฅ๏ธ Scotland is definitely on my bucket list and I love reading novels set there. Canโt wait to start yours with chocolate in hand ๐. Hugs! ๐
Sounds exciting and I love that it is connected to your family history.
So happy you’re here, Crystal! Truly, family genealogy unearths some fascinating things for us all. I wish I could have included more of my George’s exploits. Truth is really stranger than fiction!
Can it be? FIVE Tuesdays really sounds much shorter than “releasing in January 2019.” ๐ You and Revell seem such a perfect match. You both produce quality! Enjoy the anticipation of your countdown days, Laura. As will we.
I spoke with my older brother today and learned that though he’s never been to Scotland, he shares our love for it and has deep admiration for the great people. He thinks the Scots haven’t been given near enough credit for all they’ve contributed to our world. (I think we can invite him to tea, eh?) ๐
Your brother deserves a cup of Scottish tea, aye! Thank you for your kind words about Revell and myself ๐ I agree, too, about your brother’s comments about those Scots getting credit. I’ve read they hold the record for inventions, many of which we use daily! No surprise there. That intrepid Scots spirit infuses daily life and I’m so thankful for our Scots roots. Thank you for sharing in this countdown. Hope you love Lark and the laird when you meet them!
Since I’ll be going to Scotland in May, I’m even more anxious to get this beauty in my hands. It’s always so fun to hear about hidden details regarding book covers, and I’m happy to say all of yours have been some of my all time favorites. Congratulations on #10!
Oh, Amy, counting down with YOU to your Scottish trip! You’ll return quite changed and inspired ๐ And dreaming of trip 2! I really miss it and treasure my December in the Highlands when it snowed. But May is also quite nice with the long days and short nights, more time for sightseeing! You make this Tuesday countdown way more fun. So <3 you!
Sounds wonderful. I canโt wait to read it. I love to read about scotland and your books are very good reads.
Kathy, Love your gracious spirit. I’m so glad you find my books worthwhile and worth your time, etc. A high honor to write for reading friends like you, truly. I keep pinching myself now that we’re at novel 10:) Can’t wait for you to meet Lark and the laird!
Laura,
Just finished the “Ballentyne Legacy” books and I must say I loved them. I particularly like the scriptures and prayers interjected in bold type throughout the stories. Some of them I have copied for continued inspiration.
Counting down with for your new release.
Oh, you are a kindred spirit, Julia, I can tell! Thank you for mentioning what meant something to you personally. An author rarely hears that sort of thing! You inspire me to keep doing that. In fact, just yesterday I was writing a scene in novel 12 where they are at table and a prayer is needed. At first I glossed over it and said they prayed. Then I went back and included a prayer or grace that was true of 1634. Heartfelt thanks! So glad you are looking forward to this new Scottish coming-to-America story. Your comments here mean so much!
Yay!
Here’s to hoping for an early shipping.
You keep me writing, my friend! HUGE thanks! I hope you tell me when it’s in hand. I’m missing a pic of Miss L who must be quite grown up now and has left the American Girl stage far behind! Sigh. But if she’s anything like her mom, she’s beautiful inside and out:)
Ha, quite grown up indeed as she will be 14 on Monday but looks 23. We are mistaken for sisters quite often. I assume that means I need to get out of my yoga pants and put on some mascara.
Oh, How i love this update about her! And a credit to your youthfulness, too! I’ve often the same about you in photos ๐ Hope this is her best birthday yet. What a joy of a daughter!
