Even after eight published novels (and a drawer full of unpublished ones), hearing your book has arrived in the publishing warehouse is still a thrill. And my head editor was thoughtful enough to send an email saying she’d just received her copy of The Lacemaker and was very pleased to be publishing it. I should get my copy any minute and yes, I indulge in all those first moments of book bliss by breathing in that fresh print scent, go over front and back cover like a new mom with a book baby, and open it up to read a few random pages
So incredibly thankful for Revell, readers, and the Lord for blessing the work of my hands and heart.
Congratulations again on this new novel. I know I’m excited to be able to read it soon. May God continue to bless you with stories to share and the joy each time when it is realized.
Beautiful words of yours, Stephanie, like a lovely benediction and prayer. Thanks so much for commenting and watching my posts on my author page, etc. I am so blessed you are my reader!!
I thank the Lord also “for blessing the work of (your) hands and heart.” We, your readers, enjoy your blessings, too!
Clyde, I always feel so honored when you comment and take time for my books. And I never think of you without remembering that Mary Kay, the book missionary, brought us together. Thank you for your heart for my books. It takes a special person to read and enjoy them as they are not easy reads but contain hard history. You are a gift to me!
I, too love that ‘new book’ smell, and can’t wait to inhale “The Lacemaker”. 🙂
I might just have to make another “favorite quotes” bangle…..
If you only knew how I love that item and wear it!! Makes a great adornment and conversation piece at book events, too:) SO hope you enjoy TL, Patti. You set the bar high!
Ah, Amy dear! Inhale on so many levels! I so hope you enjoy every jot and tittle, friend! I do think this is my most romantic story yet 🙂
So excited for you, my friend. And excited for all of us waiting in line to read it next! 🙂 So proud of your heart and hard work!!
That means so much, Savanna, as you pour yourself into your stories (and your website design!) like I do. Thank you, thank you for being there!!
I am a book sniffer, too. And when I hold one of yours in my hands for the first time, I feel as if I am holding a pure treasure.
Susan, You are one of my favorite fellow book sniffers 🙂 Think of all the folks that miss out on the joy of new books in hand! I get giddy when a new one arrives by any author! Thank you for reading novel 9 – you’ve been with me a long time! Treasure is a beautiful word. Thank you.
Well what thrills me is knowing you have a drawer full of unpublished books. Feel free to leave those to me in your will. Thanks.
Oh how I’m chuckling at your great comments! The sequel to The Frontiersman’s Daughter is in that hidden stack somewhere! Funny that I had such a hankering to write about a Scots castle and that is where that sequel was set. Now I get to tell a Scots tale about another castle instead:) God is so good with unfinished business and dreams!
Amen to that!
Hugs and happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, dear Cindy!
I’m so excited to read your new book, Laura. The cover is so lovely, and it sounds so wonderful that I just want to grab the book and read it. There’s just something about holding a new book in your hands and feeling and smelling it that a Kindle copy just can’t replicate. Congratulations on your new book baby.
I so enjoyed meeting and chatting with you at CFRR in August. It was definitely a highlight of my time there.
Winnie, It’s really wonderful to see you here, too, and have the sweet memory of a real live person beyond your memorable name! I love CFRR and am so glad we both got to attend. It’s my favorite annual book event. You describe my struggle with Kindle so well. Guess I’m old school but a real book is so much better for me for the very reasons you mention. You sure can’t dog-ear an e-reader! Though I guess there are ways to mark those but I’m not there yet ;). Can’t wait till you meet Lady Elisabeth. I do love the cover!
Oh, that’s so very exciting! I have a lacemaker book tucked away in my hoping to be published treasury. I am so looking forward to seeing what you have done with your story!
Lacemaking is so you, Carla! The book that was the most interesting to me may be the one you have – about the lacemakers in Ipswich, MA, close to your neck of the woods:) Seems even George Washington himself was a fan of lace and visited those artistic ladies. I do wish I could have gone into more detail about lacemaking in the novel. But word count wouldn’t allow and I may have run away with myself and turned it into nonfic instead! Here’s hoping you enjoy every page. That’s sure how I feel with your books. 🙂
Laura, it seems that everything to which you put your heart and hands turns into beauty! What joy to anticipate “The Lacemaker”, fresh ink and all! I pray God’s richest blessings upon this new endeavor, knowing that every word is thoughtfully received from Him. Sending love!
Love your gracious words, Lois. Very needed and appreciated. Every word is from Him and I’m so thankful. He is endlessly creative and far more. Thank you for being here and being such a blessing, always!
I’m so excited to read this book! I’m sure it’s beautiful. You’re one of the best writers in today’s market. 😊❤
Nicole, You are a wonderful encourager and confidence booster as we roll toward release day. Your words mean so much because I know you know books! And quality writing is something we both value. Thank you. Honestly, the Lord is so good. I will confess that I have a certain feeling about my books before release and just as I knew Moonbow would be a hard read for some, I think Lacemaker will be the opposite as it’s romantic and in such a picturesque setting. The cover really does match the book. And my head editor seems particularly taken with this one. I so hope you are, too!
I remember being on a beach in Brazil, near Forteleza, watching a woman make a lace tablecloth. I can’t remember if I bought one, but I do remember the regret. I did buy a few doilies, though…sigh.
And “fresh print scent”? I LOVE that!
Also, me want now.
That’s a priceless memory, Jennifer, and I suspect what she was doing was ages-old/historic. Regret, yes! I have bypassed things I wish I had now. And bought things I was sorry I did! Fresh print scent is a must 🙂 In fact, I just ran to the mailbox and no lace lol. Maybe UPS? Cannot wait!!
