Not long after I received the final cover for The Rose & the Thistle, my upcoming Scottish novel, I saw an author friend’s beautiful Polish edition for one of her novels on her Instagram – which happens to be the top half of my new cover! Cover designers do fascinating things when creating book art and here’s proof. Both images are from Trevillion, a favorite photography site. You’d probably never be able to tell they’re from the same image. But sometimes an author knows, ya know?!
I love the warm tones of Joanna Davidson Politano’s Polish cover – & that 18th-century bodice is gorgeous! Plus the loosened hair and ribbon give it such a romantic touch. I’m completely smitten! You can see a little of that bodice on my Scottish cover but the focus is all about that silk skirt and the placement of our heroine’s hands. Both work beautifully, I think, but are very different.
Joanna has a new release that’s getting a lot of buzz right now. Her beautiful website has more about her novels if you’d like to look…

Happy reading!
