“Laura Frantz surely dances when she writes: the words sweep across the page with a gentle rhythm and a sure step. Her characters in Love’s Fortune are sympathetic, yet flawed, making them oh-so-easy to care for, ache for, cheer for. Her historical details are well chosen, and her sense of time and place rings true. Above all, it’s Wren’s journey that engages our hearts and makes the pages turn. Well done, lass!”

*Huge thanks to Revell, Brandon Hill and Session Seven Media for bringing this book to life!
Absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the color scheme and how it fits with the other books so well and the models are all beautiful. π You must be thrilled with how it turned out.
Renee, SO happy you like those western Pennsylvania woods! I snuck this out ahead of time for you, my friend. You’ve been on board with me for all these Ballantyne books (ALL my books, actually) and it’s such a joy to have you chime in here first!! If this cover is okay with you, it’s A-Okay with me, too ;). Thank you for being there and being so faithful!!
It absolutely looks like a Pennsylvanian autumn, in fact it looks like the view from my window! It definitely has Renee’s Seal of Approval. π Thank you for sharing it with me and everyone else!
Renee, If that’s the view from your window I covet your window :)! LOL about your seal of approval. I can just imagine it. If I was crafty I would make you one on the web! So thankful for you!
I Love this cover, I think it is my favorite of the Ballantyne Legacy series. Though The Frontierman’s Daughter cover is my favorite over all cover of yours.
Carissa, Glad you like this one but REALLY glad you like Lael’s cover best. That means so much as it’s right out of the Kentucky woods :). Wren has a Lael-like spirit, too. But no spoilers for you!
Ohh! Ahh! So pretty! I think that’s the best one in the series.
Rachel, So good to see you here :). I agree – I think it’s my favorite of the 3. I never thought Love’s Reckoning would be second but I do believe Wren just bumped grandmother Eden!
Just saw this on my pinterest page and it literally took my breath. My stomach did a little flippy flop too.
So beautiful! You should be so proud. I cant wait to see just how much like Lael she is as Lael is so dear to me.
Love you!
Cindy, I kept thinking of you as we waited for this cover to appear as you’ve been SO PATIENT!! So I checked the Revell site last night and saw they’d loaded the book blurb so just went ahead and posted for my dearest readers like you. Love that it caused those flippy flops :). Cover art is such wonderful stuff. And sharing it with you is truly one of the joys of life. God is so good!!
And it means the world to me to hear you say that about Lael. Thank you.
Oh Laura, I was so excited to see this today! I’ve been waiting to see the beautiful Wren. The colors are amazing and I’m trying to decide what’s going on with her. She looks very brave, thoughtful. But I guess you are the only one who really knows what she is thinking/feeling, LOL. I am so anxious to read her story, but I must re-read the other two first.
Congratulations on the new reveal. I am so happy for you and love all the positive comments you are receiving!! π
Have a blessed day, Laura!
Georgianne, SO thrilled you like Wren :). Love your thoughts. She’s very different than Eden and Ellie – brave and thoughtful, yes. So glad you see that and Brandon captured that! He told me he was going to give me my best cover yet! I didn’t think anything could top Love’s Reckoning but I do believe I’ll be framing this one for my office wall, too! I can’t wait to share her with you. She’s a true Kentuckian through and through. But Pennsylvania grows on her bit by bit…!
Bless you so much for being such an encouragement. I couldn’t do this without you!
Oh, Laura – the cover of “Love’s Fortune” is absolutely beautiful!! My favorite of the Ballantyne series covers WAS “Love’s Awakening” because of the model and the color of her dress, I think she looks like a porcelain doll!! However, I feel the cover of “Love’s Fortune” has a realism the other two don’t have. The model’s dress is a color I haven’t often seen on covers, and brings out the color in the beautiful trees!!
Can’t wait to read “Love’s Fortune” – ordering some of your other novels today, in preparation for my Laura reading marathon, starting soon-the very BEST way to read books!! Thanks for giving us something to look forward to!!
Bonnie, You are one savvy cover watcher! You really nailed Ellie on the cover of book 2 as she really does have that porcelain doll quality. And you are so right in saying this new cover has a realism the other 2 don’t. So true! The first ones are more like a painting where this new one is more like a photograph. So interesting to share and discuss photo art with you :). Thrilled you like this one. The fall background is stunning and can either be the Kentucky woods or the Pennsylvania woods. Wren, the heroine in this book, is from Ky. Right around Louisville, in fact!
I’m especially excited to see Julie’s new cover for Surprised By Love, also done by Brandon Hill. He’s doing some great covers for the CBA and also the general market. I love working with him!
I can’t thank you enough for buying my books, dear Bonnie. You are such a generous spirit and I’m so thankful for you. Because of you I can keep on writing! Have a blessed day there.
Ohhhhhhhhh!!!
So gorgeous!
And she looks so very “hmmm, dare I? What will this cost me, really and truly cost me?”
The colours are gorgeous, but I’m sitting here obsessing over the placement of the sun. I know, right? Life’s problems would all be solved if I could figure out the angle of the sun on Wren’s body.
I want Brandon Hill to do Nez and Sarah!!!!!
Jennifer, I must say the names NEZ and SARAH really pops :). And I am sure Brandon Hill would do that cover for you to a T! I could go over to Seattle and make sure the sun placement for it was just so, only there is no sun here, so no worries there…!
You are so right about Wren’s thoughts, you savvy cover evaluator you π
Oh Laura, it’s gorgeous! Love those fall trees in the background and that they match Wren’s dress! She looks strong, like she has a depth of strength inside that makes her take on any situation that is thrown at her! And maybe a bit feisty too? I can’t wait to read all about her!
Eva! Love your insights/thoughts about Wren. She definitely knows her own mind and is an interesting blend of moxie and naΓ―vetΓ©. I so hope you like her! Yes, the colorful background really makes a splash with her gown. One interesting note is that I had hoped for a snowscene cover this time as Eden’s cover was fall and Ellie’s cover was spring. Brandon, bless him, made a special snow cover and sent it to me first. I just melted :). It’s so gorgeous. Wren looks like she’s caught in a snowglobe and her dress is more pink. I hope to share that with you all here soon. I believe he’s working on a special post in future to show the different covers/comps or the cover that wasn’t :).
LAURA!!!! It’s GORGEOUS! I spent a good share of internet time this weekend, looking all over for a glimpse of your beautiful new cover. And now, here it is! Oh, I can’t wait for the book to come out! I just love the pretty colors. Brandon did an excellent job, once again. And the collage is brilliant. ‘Twould make a beautiful bookmark. π Hope you’re having a wonderful day and staying nice and warm. Spring is just around the corner! YAY!
Angi, LOVE the bookmark idea! I can never get enough of those or send/share enough :). Brandon really does have such an eye for color and lighting. I just KNEW you and others here had been so faithful at watching for it to appear and this year it’s later than past years. It’s still not up anywhere else on the web but I just couldn’t make you wait a minute longer so just went ahead this morning and delighted myself with wondering just when you’d see it.
Yes, spring is around the corner. Our daffodils are up!
Oh, I LOVE it Laura. It’s just gorgeous. Especially love our Kentucky mountains in the background. π Is it September yet, because I cannot wait to read Wren’s story.
Thank you for giving me something joyful on this dreary, snowy day.
Michelle, I heard KY got pummeled with ice again :(. So glad this cover art perked you (and me) right up. It is so colorful and has Brandon’s signature touch :). Wren actually looks like Wren should!
Thanks so much for sharing the joy of this with me.
You heard correctly. π Ice, sleet, and snow. Lexington had about two to three inches of snow, and then there was sleet and ice underneath it. Monday was the worst day of this winter, imo.
I was one of two people in my department to make it to work Monday, my roommate being the other one. I only went because I couldn’t afford another occurrence, and was praying every single step I took out to the car.
Now, if I’d known they wouldn’t given occurrences to those who didn’t make it to work on Monday, I never would have been there.
Michelle, I’ve been in similar boats, being the only show and should have been a no-show! Stay safe and don’t slip – or drive when you don’t have to!
Laura this is so stunning. All of your book covers are just so beautiful. Cannot wait to read Wren’s story. September just seems a long ways away.
Alissa, So glad to share the cover love with you:) And I’m thrilled you like it. In this case, it IS Wren Ballantyne and I’m so thankful! September does seem far off. I’m wishing I could give you a book a month! We’ll count down together…!
Lovely cover. I pinned it! Can’t wait to read between the covers. Will there be a 3-book boxed set or are there more novels in the series? Can’t wait to read them all…
Jan, Thanks for that pin or is it repin :)!? These will be sold as a set for a discount once this one is released. And this is it for the Ballantynes, sniff. I will sure miss them but then it’s back to the 18th-century for me. And history lover that you are, I don’t think you’ll mind a bit!
It’s so beautiful, Laura! Congratulations! I can’t wait to see how the feel of the cover relates to the story like your previous Ballantyne books have. And, of course I’m so looking forward to reading it!
Such interesting thoughts, Brenda. A good cover should feel like the story inside, so true. Cover art can really make or break a book! I can’t wait to see yours – I pray it will be the cover of your heart and a true reflection of the story you’ve been so faithful to see print!
Love, love, love it! This series has the best covers I’ve ever seen, and the stories more than live up to them!
Joan, So thankful for your warm words and your friendship. I’m thrilled you like these covers – and the stories behind them. Whew :). As an editor and an author your opinion means so much!
this cover is breath-taking…definitely worth the wait, Laura…I cannot wait to read it π
Karen, So glad you’re here :). Bless you for the cover kudos. The art team behind them is truly inspired! I hope you enjoy every word of Wren’s story!
Laura, I LOVE this cover so much! It is beautiful, and I am blown away. It might possibly be my favorite cover of the series, although it is hard to choose!
Cassie, You put if perfectly and summed up my thoughts exactly :). I think it’s my favorite cover of this series, too The first two resemble paintings in a way and this third one is far more lifelike. Another reader/cover watcher said she felt Wren’s cover is more present or immediate simply because it’s 1850 as opposed to the very antique 18th-century Eden and Ellie not much later. An interesting thought! SO happy you like the look of this new one. That makes my day :)!
It is very lovely, Laura! You are very blessed to have such a talented photographer and designer. His work is gorgeous. They all flow together beautifully!
Emma, So glad you like :). I DO feel blessed to have such gifted cover artists behind this. And it was such a thrill to meet the model and put my paws on this dress. A dream come true! You said it so well – when lined up side by side they do flow well together. Thanks for celebrating Wren with me!
Absolutely breathtaking! Wishing you great success with it, Laura!
Carla, So appreciate your kind words :). Brandon Hill and Revell really make an inspired team. You’re a gem, thanks!
Love the cover. Cannot wait to read the book!
Colleen, Oh, so thankful you like the look of Wren :). Me, too! These cover artists really amaze me when they capture the essence of a book. I’m getting ready for galleys on this one. And then I get to leap back to the 18th-century. Can’t wait! Praying your own writing and all else is going well, my friend!
Lovely, lovely, and oh, so evocative. Wren has a story to tell! Can’t wait to read it. And what a delightful review from Liz.
Thanks for sharing, Laura. Well done, indeed. So happy for you.
Mary Kay, Love the “lovely and evocative” for the cover. I can gush, I guess, as I had nothing to do with it ;). Brandon Hill and Revell make a great team. I was really honored when Liz did the endorsement given her schedule. She is just amazing and a whirlwind! I just pray/hope the story lives up to both cover and endorsement.
Wish we could meet up and have a cup of tea and some book talk! But this is a good second best, Mary Kay!
Oh Laura, this is BEAUTIFUL!!! All the covers in your this series have been simply breathtaking! So happy for you (and us, lol! π ) and I can’t wait to read this next addition to the Ballantyne Legacy!! And, I love Liz’s review – she captures your writing style perfectly!
Praying all is well with you, dear friend, and that you’re staying warm in all this cold! I find myself wishing the days away for Spring… Oh well, we’ll just have to keep baking to stay warm, right? π
β₯ Amanda
Amanda, Love your baking comment π YES! I’m getting ready to make a Meyer Lemon Pie with Gingersnap Crust and Almond Whipped CrΓ¨me :). So your point is well taken! And an apple pie, lol. But I don’t care for apple pie (I’m the only one in America who doesn’t, right?)! So the lemon is a backup plan…
Thrilled you like the look of Wren and Liz’s kind endorsement. Love the way she words things! I do think writing is like a dance. A wonderful thought!
Not too much longer till spring – 2 more weekends? And I am trying to remember we change the time back this weekend. I love Easter and have a feeling you do, too, so we’ll count down together:)
So good to see you as always. You have a way of lighting up the page!!
