I truly have stars in my eyes over this cover, no pun intended. HUGE kudos to Revell’s art team and designer John Hamilton for bringing Tempe to life and crafting a frontier Kentucky cover I’m over the moon about!
I hope you’re over the moon about it, too. Comments welcome, aye or nay…!
Ohhhhhhh BEAUTIFUL! !!!!
OHHH WOW!
From the focal point of the moonlight on the waterfall sweeping up to light her face, to the detail of the foliage, to the stars in the night sky?? Absolutely stunning!!!
Oh, love those details you mention, Jennifer. You say it all so poetically. You are a good cover critique :). Thrilled you like it. No RS or CJ in sight but there is a very handsome half blood within these 382 or so pages ;).
Love it!
Dear Meghan, So happy you do! Now trying to polish up the story for you, too:)
LOVE it! Can’t wait to read the inside, which I know will be even more lovely than the cover!
Anne, Wonderful to see you here! You’ve have some stunning covers yourself so glad you like this new one of mine. I should say this story is quite a bit more historical than historical romance. I’m even hoping read the first chapter twice as there’s a lot to absorb. But no spoilers for dear readers like you!
Well as much as I do love your romances, I do tend to lean more toward historical than historical romance, so I can’t wait! Blessings to you, dear lady! I pray for you often!
SO appreciate those prayers, Anne, more than you know! It’s a joy to lift you up, too. What a wonderfully godly example you are!
I agree! It’s absolutely lovely. Can’t wait to read it! I have a guess as to where in KY this story happens. 🙂
From one Kentuckian to another, Karen, that means a lot. And I am sure you’ve been to this very spot :). Yes, indeed!
Aye! It’s beautiful, Laura. I love how they not only captured the falls, but there is a distinctive bow over Tempe, too. She looks very down-to-earth, as if she just stepped out of the Kentucke wilderness. It’s fun to see a nighttime cover, too. This one is a bit different than your others, which is a fun change. It reminds me a little of The Frontiersman’s Daughter, in so much that we don’t get a view of her sweeping gown, but a picture of a simple woman with an extraordinary story to tell. I can’t wait!!
Love that AYE, Gabe:) That’s sure what I said when I saw it! Tempe is very down to earth and has lost a lot in a few years. Love how you say ‘a simple woman with an extraordinary story.’ I may have to quote you – that’s beautiful! Thank you so much.
Absolutely gorgeous, Laura! But I’m most excited about the story inside. I know it will enchant me like your stories always do. I just wish I didn’t have to wait so long!
Congratulations!!!
Totally lovely!! My daughter went crazy over it. I can hardly wait to read the gem of a story I know lies inside!!
Oh, patience may be a virtue, but this will be a long, hard wait.
congrats on a beautiful cover!!
Ah, if Miss A likes it, it’s a keeper! And please tell her so:) I’m smiling with delight to think of her delight. My men are not a bookish bunch and so the cover love passes them by! Bless you for being here, Rachael. Your opinion means so much.
CONGRATS, Laura. I love the beautiful colors of this one and how well they blend together. This one definitely has a pretty ethereal quality that’s hard to ignore. 🙂
Rissi, As an avid reader, you are also a cover connoisseur (did I even spell that right?) so your comments mean a lot. Love that you think it has an ethereal quality. I so hoped that would come through and the art team seems to have achieved that. I’m so pleased with the final here. And I can’t say that about all my covers though I’m thankful for each in different ways:)
Oh, wow, it’s really pretty! .. although I do find myself wondering where to look first … girl or waterfall? And then the waterfall sort of looks dayish to me while the girl is obviously in the nighttime … But still gorgeous! Very nice effect overall! (and … I’m sorry for being such a pessimistic critic)
Kellyn, Love your honesty – not pessimistic at all:) Split screens are interesting and can leave one wondering where to land. It’s also hard to achieve a night scene. I wish I could share the comp that didn’t make the final cut. It’s very different than the final here and a lot more mysterious/dark, more a contemporary suspense feel. I really appreciate your insights and glad you like the overall effect. Me, too!
Oh Wow this is your best book cover to date. January 2017 seems such a long time from now. Can’t wait to go back in time to the Kentucky frontier. Maybe we will get some news on the whereabouts of CJ……..
Juliet, Love your first impression! That was mine, too, when I first saw it. I never thought anything could trump a couple of my other covers but this one has my heart and the essence of the story, too. Wouldn’t it be fun if pubs could time the cover release so that the book was available at the same time? Smiling that you’re thinking of CJ. Me, too!
Laura, I am really looking forward to this book and have it in my online shopping cart to pre-order!:)
That place looks sooo relaxing and peaceful. A beautiful, private getaway. I can imagine the heroine sitting there on the rocks with her feet in the water. It’s also an ideal spot for a romantic interlude for the hero and heroine.:) Why am I all of the sudden envisioning Red Shirt and Morrow at this spot?:)
The lady on this cover looks just right for the time period. The best part is that she’s wearing no visible makeup. It looks more authentic that way. I do kind of wish that she was sitting by the pool of water. Her feet dipping in the water and her chin in her hand. She would be gazing up at the bow of color and the stars just thinking. There goes my cover design imagination again!:) Will there be a back cover image or just a synopsis?
Every time I see your books lined up on my shelf I get happy feelings. Sigh. Such lovely stories.
Sylvia, I was thinking of you the day I saw this final cover about a month ago and wondered your reaction :). And now I know! It’s really evolved from the first serious comp. It was more contemporary suspense, stunning but not historical looking in the least. Thankfully, Revell reworked it into this. I’m so thankful as it’s the essence of Tempe and her story. It contains a lot of KY history – Boone history so it means a lot to me. Not as romancey as most of my books. Lots of historical detail though I did trim some. Really appreciate that you noticed her natural look. I’m a huge fan of that. A motion was made to tidy her hair but I said the loosened braid was just right and authentic.
Bless you for taking time for my books and being so faithful and encouraging, too. I’m over the moon they’re on your shelf and are a source of delight and respite.
The design pulls us in ….simply luring readers in to wait on tenterhooks before we can get lost in the story.
Love how you word that, Kathryn – bless you for being here!
Absolutely love the cover of ‘A Moonbow Night’, Laura, and it truly is my fave of all your covers, I just know the story will be my fave of your stories also!!
As I commented on your Facebook post, I would enjoy seeing more color in the moonbow – as in the photo of the moonbow on your Facebook page. The moonbow on Cumberland Falls is so beautiful!! Yet, perhaps more color would detract from the model’s face and I love her pensive expression. Moonbows are so rare, some readers may not be aware of them, nor of how they light the falls.
All that being said, the cover is beautiful – and so perfectly cast for the even more beautiful story inside!! So excited for you and joyously awaiting the read of ‘A Moonbow Night’!!
Love, hugs, and prayers!!
Bonnie, So appreciate your comments. Often our first impressions are lasting ones. Love her pensive expression, too, and the earthy tones. That’s a real shot of the falls though must people have never heard of moonbows. I wasn’t sure about the title at first (the working title was Moonbow Inn) but that is certainly more practical than romancy ;). This is more historical fiction than romance but I’ve probably said that here. Bless you for being here and sharing in this! If I have a fav, this is mine, too!
Laura, It is beautiful. Worth waiting for! For me, because she looks rustic in her face, clothes and hair it will be easier to picture her throughout the story. I do love that braid. Reminds me of my own night time braid. I would recommend others preorder from Amazon. They ship quicker and earlier than CBD. Won’t make that mistake again! It was miserable watching other readers get copies before me!!
Cindy, It does my heart good to know you like it :). I think the same of her appearance and told the art team it is wonderful to have a simple frontier girl look earthy and real. Her braid is one of the best things about this and though they brought up tidying it I asked them to leave it unkempt.
Thanks, too, for the heads-up about ordering and shipping. Once upon a time it was CBD who was first to ship, sometimes weeks ahead of other retailers. Not sure why that’s changed except Amazon has become such a force with their 2 day delivery, etc. Looks like this book will be a New Year’s baby:) Bless you so much for taking time here! I’m thrilled that my site has been un-hacked after the hackers left it in such a shambles. I even get your comments delivered to my email so I don’t miss any! Wonders never cease…
When your cover art appeared, I literally ‘caught my breath’ it is so enchanting. This cover alone is a ‘seller’. I see why you are ‘over the moon’ its fabulous and the girl looks not only lovely….but so real!~~~and I never got to tell you how much my daughter and I enjoyed ‘Mistress of Tall Acre’ we SO loved that book. I didn’t want it to end…and I’ll be looking forward to reading your new one too.
Maggie Ann, Your comments do my heart good this morning – bless you so much! Love that you caught your breath at first sight. Me, too! And that’s not always the case with cover art. I think it’s enchanting, too – some have said ‘ethereal’ which is another word I love. I do think this is my favorite cover of all. Perhaps because I’m a Kentucky girl and it’s so close to my heart and also because Tempe looks so real, like you said. And I’m overjoyed to hear that both you and your daughter spent time at Tall Acre and enjoyed it so much! I have actually given thought to a sequel about Lily Cate coming of age. I think I can stay in the 18th-century while doing that only I’m not sure I can create a hero her father finds worthy of her! Bless you for being here and sharing your thoughts. They mean so much!
