Randy, Paul, and Wyatt in our apple orchard readying to make cider
It’s nearly Thanksgiving and I’m wishing you an early happy holiday as we prepare for ours. Wyatt turns 17 this week, Paul plays his violin for a wedding, and I’m in charge of the turkey and stuffing and need to put my apron on! Till we meet again here…
Wishing you and yours a very blessed Thanksgiving!
I just showed Liberty that lovely picture. I told her you have an apple orchard and she quickly spit out a fact that you can plant 108 trees on one acre. She learned this in history apparently. I told her I’d ask you if it were true.
And can I just say…wow! an apple orchard!!!
🙂 Lol! I think Miss Liberty would get along fine with my men here as they love talking acres and apples :). That’s such an interesting fact – I think it’s true! I would ask Randy but he’s out of town today. And Liberty might know better than he! Glad you like the picture. Our poor trees were hanging nearly to the ground there were so many apples. I am making apple pies, applesauce, fried apples, apple butter, apple dumplings… Whew!
Have a wonderful Monday :)!
Laura, how in the world do you find the time to do all that baking, cooking, research, writing, take care of the family, maintain your home….? (I am worn out just typing all of this!) You must be one highly organized, high energy and very efficient woman! Bless your heart. 🙂
Oh Georgianne, You’re such a dear 🙂 The answer is that I get very tired, lol. Actually, I wake up about 4-5 am and my ongoing prayer is that I honor Him with my time. As I get older I’m increasingly aware of what a gift time is, something I didn’t pay much attention to in the past. That’s one reason heaven is so appealing ~ all that time! And I must confess I love to cook/bake/can/garden. I’ve let go of a lot of things/hobbies… I have a feeling highly organized and efficient fits you to a T!
Thanks for the gift of your presence here. Always a blessing!
Oh Laura! You’re making me hungry with the talk about all of the delicious things that must be coming out of your kitchen. Apples are one of my favorite fruits. There will definitely be an apple pie on the table this Thanksgiving, along with a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie!
Please give Wyatt an early ‘Happy Birthday’ from me. Praying that he enjoys his special day. And I’m SO excited for Paul! It’s awesome that he gets to play at a wedding. Wish I could hear him.
Once again, wishing all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving! Hugs! 🙂
You’re so thoughtful, Angie :). Paul has been practicing that wedding march madly for the past 2 months plus the beautiful fiddle tune Ashokan Farewell and some classical pieces. I hope it goes well as he’s really looking forward to it as it’s his best friend’s sister’s wedding. And thanks for the birthday wishes for Wyatt. I think he’s going to the Hunger Games movie with friends and he’s asked for fried chicken for supper! But no apples, lol, only a coconut cream pie.
I hope you and your family have the best Thanksgiving yet. I’m so thrilled you SIL will be celebrating especially this year :). See you next week!
Enjoy your time with your guys. I’m sure you’ll make all kinds of yummy food for your celebration. Happy Thanksgiving, dear friend. Wishing you every blessing now and always. 🙂
Hi Anne, So good to usher in another Thanksgiving with you :). How this year has flown! I am getting ready to start cooking and can’t wait! Wishing you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving, too!
Homemade cider, no fair! 😀 Happy Thanksgiving, Laura!
Oh, that cider is really something, Gwen. I have to shut my eyes so I don’t see the bugs and such in the press ;)! It’s truly an old-fashioned experience. I hope you and your family have a blessed holiday this week as we warm up to the Christmas season! Thanks for stopping – I think of you so often and you’re in my prayers :)!
Hello dear Laura! 🙂 Boy have I missed you!! Sorry I’ve been away so long, so much going on. Nothing bad, praise God, just really busy and the like… Anyway, just wanted to wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!! I’m sure your kitchen is gonna be smelling great 🙂 Mom and I will be starting a few dishes tomorrow, in addition to cleaning/straightening up the house, and finishing the rest Thursday morning. Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday, and I’m really looking forward to it this year in particular, though I’m not sure why, lol! Six of our dear friends from church will be coming over and I’m anticipating sweet fellowship in addition to the scrumptious food of course 😉
Your men look so cute in that pic 🙂 I wish I had an apple orchard! Your cider must be delicious. How perfect for the holidays. Happy bday to Wyatt! And thats awesome Paul is playing his violin at a wedding! So talented just like his mama 🙂
God bless you, my friend! Miss you and hope we can catch up soon!
♥ Amanda
Amanda! 🙂 So thrilled to see you! No worries about being away, that just means you have a wonderfully full life AWAY from the computer! Something to be admired and envied, lol. It’s great to celebrate another Thanksgiving with you and get ready for Christmas. I have no doubt your kitchen will be brimming with good food. I’m starting out with a coconut cream pie today for Wyatt’s birthday and then moving on to cornbread and biscuits for the stuffing, etc. So glad you’re having company from church – fellowship indeed!
And yes, we’re so excited about the wedding! Paul gave me a little impromptu performance last night and we’re headed to the church today to see how things are set up. I love weddings and something about a wedding at Thanksgiving seems especially nice :).
Bless you for stopping today when it’s so busy, too. I think we need an 8th day of the week especially around holidays! Wishing you and your family the very best, dear Amanda <3!
Laura, I bet your coconut cream pie is divine! We already did the sweet potato casserole, the stuffing, and the chocolate cake and brownies for the trifle (though there are WAY more than 3 layers, lol, with chocolate pudding, cool whip and chocolate heath bar bits in between!
Mom’s calling so I have to run but it was so nice to talk to you, dear friend!! Oh, and since I just learned how to do this I’ll pass this wonderful knowledge along to you- to get the heart ♥ to look like the heart in my first comment you press the Alt and 3 buttons at the same time ♥
LOL, dear Amanda! I even struggle with hearts here! You are a wonder! And I still can’t do it. Sigh. Oh, you SO need a cooking blog/site!! I think folks would flock to it to get your trifle recipe. Anything with chocolate and heath bar bits and I’m in! The coconut cream pie is made and the meringue is fluffy and brown and the pie crust didn’t shrink like last time so we’re good :).
Have a blessed holiday ~ prayers and thoughts with you!
Oh man, maybe it’s different with a laptop? You have a laptop right? On my keyboard it’s the Alt and the 3 from the right number panel. I asked my friend after I seen it in her email to me and I can’t believe I can finally do something beside smiley and wink faces, lol!
And we’ll have to swap some recipes again soon 😉
♥ Blessings ♥
Argggh, mine won’t do anything when I hit those! You are magic, Amanda! And here’s proof :)!! Anyway, thx for trying to educate me – and yes, we’ll swap recipes in future! Bless you bunches!
I just wanted to stop by and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful blessed day filled with family and lots of good food! May the Lord continue to bless you, sweet lady! 🙂
Emma, JOY to you and yours, too, my kind friend 🙂 So thankful for YOU this holiday!!
