Some of you have been asking what I’ve been doing now that I’ve laid those Ballantynes to rest:) Well, I’ve been sitting at my desk beginning another novel after 8 months of research. So far, since Chapter One opened a few days ago, I have 2,068 words written. I only have about 98,000 left to go. And I’m enjoying every minute of it:)
Prayers so appreciated!
Oh, love this picture – Laura!! It is so befitting you – I can visualize you sitting at that desk in a log cabin in those wooded surroundings. A scene I’ve fantasized myself doing for so many years!!
Eight months of research!! So much work, yet I know you are one who loves research. I’m thrilled that you love writing and pour so much of your heart, soul, and being into it’s pages!! Also thrilled that this novel is on it’s way and we will continue to be blessed and inspired by your beautiful words in writing!!
I’m continually in prayer seeking blessings and inspiration for you during your writing journey, I’m also continually thanking God for the blessings and inspiration your novels and your sweet friendship bring to my life!! Thank you!! Hugs!!
Dear Bonnnie, It’s wonderful knowing I have prayer support as I begin another book. I can feel it and that means so much. No way could I do this alone! I think/hope you’ll enjoy this story since it’s set in our neck of the woods and has all the elements of my first 3 Kentucky books. I hope you chime in on Facebook and help with a title. I don’t give a lot to go on there but sure need help thinking up one!
Hugs to you and many thanks for all you do!!
I am hoping that we are going to be taken back to the Kentucky frontier…..can’t wait.
Juliet:) You are indeed back on the KY frontier! I’m thrilled you want to be! This story is very dear to my heart because it centers around a relatively unknown piece of frontier history that has been dear to my heart and has haunted me since childhood. In fact, I’ve just posted a plea for help with a frontier title for this one on Facebook. Am trying not to give too much of the story away! Thanks for confirming the direction of this story. I haven’t been so excited about a book since I finished TCL:)!
Good afternoon Dear Laura,
Now you have me very excited! I love hearing what you’re up to these days! I wish I could be a fly on the wall peering over your shoulder to get a glimpse into what is next. But you’d probably get that fly swatter out eventually and that would be the end of me (splat). 🙂 However, I’m guessing you already have a book or two into the publishers for editing that will be due out 2015/2016 and this one will be a little further out?
I will be praying for you, this effort, and your family. I hope all is well with your husband and boys. I saw where you said in one of your posts that you had some KY kin in visiting recently. I imagine that was a precious and sweet time for you as I know you must miss them. (I am still waiting for you to visit KY and do a little book signing, and I will come find you…. just a thought.)
🙂 🙂
Georgianne
LOL about that fly swatter, Georgianne. It brings back VIVID memories of my granny’s back porch where the fly swatter would be hanging on the wall. ICK. You are quite a savvy reader. Yes, my next book, due out fall of 2015, has just gone inhouse after being approved by my editor. Title and cover are coming, probably soon after Christmas. It will be fun this time having another standalone since the Ballantyne covers were so similar in theme. Though I loved them, I’ll be delighted by something new and fresh – and hopefully it will appeal to you, too.
Yes, my KY kin were just here and now I’m getting ready to fly away on a research trip next week. But more on that soon:) I’d so love to come to your neck of the woods. I do plan on that. Ohio is just over the river and not so far away! I can’t count how many times I’ve driven through Cinci. on my way south. And I still get a chuckle that the Cinci. airport is in Key, in fact!
Hope your fall is going well. I sure enjoy taking tea with you on Pinterest even if we are limited to those lovely pins!
I love this setting, no wonder you can write such great books…Love your writing.
Cherie, You help make all this creativity happen:) Truly, having you here and encouraging me means more than I can say. Bless you!
Can’t wait to see what this story holds. Love that its back in Kentucky. I will try to help brainstorm a possible title. But don’t know how much I’ll be of help. My brain seems kind of fried, on the account of works been busy, we finally opened our new branch of the library in the system. So we’ve stayed busy.
I am happy to report that we have a copy of each of your books on our shelves.
Dear Carissa, YAY for your library and my books being there ~ and YOU for telling me so:) That sure makes me smile. I bet you’ve been busy!
My brain doesn’t work well with titles. The only titles my pub has kept of mine are hopelessly uncreative! But you all are sure cooking up some good possibilities over on Facebook!
So much comfort in that picture ! I so love nature and so love the country for relaxing. I would live in KY/TN area for the rest of my life if I could get back there ! The farm in southern middle TN was my home for me…its for sale again too, so wish I could buy it.
You know I pray for you and uphold you before our Lord, for whatever he lays upon your heart to come through in this story. It will be Enchanting Melodies to our ears !
You have captured my heart already in this one picture.
The Lord Bless you
Linda
Linda, So appreciate having you in my corner – and neck of the woods:) Like you, there’s no place like home and that just happens to be KY. I so understand your love for TN. Can’t wait to share this next Ky story with you!
Bless you as you go about your week!
Oh, Laura…
I love this visual. I will be praying for you as you are writing.
We just had a wood stove installed and I can’t wait to bring out all of my favorite characters this winter to enjoy.
Have a wonderful week.
Cindy
Oh Cindy, Love, love, that you got a woodstove! YAY! Though I miss the traditional look of a fireplace – and a stone one at that – there is nothing like a woodstove for warmth. And reading by it is one of earth’s best delights:) Plus it’s fun to cut firewood – well, I watch my men cut and stack while I bake cookies, lol. So good to hear from you. I was thinking about you and your full house this past weekend. Hugs and prayers with you all!
Laura, I just love this photo! I would love to have a little desk like this with a window nearby to sit and look outside and daydream. What a wonderful atmosphere to write in.
So you’re making a trip to Ohio? Wish I could come to meet you. What fun it would be to road trip with you. Love visiting the historical sites there. It seems like every time I visit Ohio, I get to see a new historical site. And we could visit one of my favorite haunts and have some ice cream (if you wanted to travel a little further north, that is).
So excited about what will be coming next from your pen, especially after seeing your Pinterest board. Happy researching and writing, dear friend! 🙂
Angi! So glad you like these visuals and Pinterest like I do:) Thanks for enjoying them along with me! I really do want to come to Ohio and hope to do that before too long. Soon I leave for home, KY, to do a little bit of everything – research, book tea, an 18th-century reenactment, seeing relatives, etc. I’d LOVE to come to your neck of the woods! You’d be a wonderful hostess. I’d love to see some of your historic sites!
Hope the rest of the week is an overflowingly good one for you, My friend :)!
Totally did not see this til now.
Duh, sometimes I wonder why people let me drive on my own, or let me near appliances.
I’m praying for you as you dive in to this book. I know you give your all to each book, because it shows!
And I’m also praying for The Frantz Men as you do your thing.
I appreciate your encouragement so much as I start off. I’m breaking rules in the first chapter, lol, but I absolutely refuse to give up that backstory! And I’m remembering CML’s prologue which didn’t detract you from reading;)
Prayers with you as you write and juggle your many hats. I so admire you, my friend.
You are always at the top of my list when I pray for my writer friends. I enjoyed Wren’s story so much, and am looking forward to your next book!
Now there is a dream desk!
Lori, Your prayers are so appreciated. You have mine, too! Yes, this is dream desk:) A wee bit tiny but it sure has that je ne sais quoi!
Sure wish I could see you and Jennifer soon!
I wish you were coming to the retreat!
