I love a good love story. And the Bible has some beautiful ones. Recently I stumbled across this verse and don’t ever recall reading it before, at least not in the current version I’m attached to. The Amplified Bible is so rich and layered. Being a word lover, the more words the better. Being a romance writer, the more romantic the better, too!
I do believe this might be the most romantic Scripture in the entire Bible. Even better, I believe the Lord is speaking of His beloved church but more specifically, those of us who believe in Him and love Him. We are ‘the radiant bride.’ There can be no better happily ever after…
Joyfully the radiant bride turned to him, the one altogether lovely, the chief among ten thousand to her soul, and with unconcealed eagerness to begin her life of sweet companionship with him, she answered Make haste my beloved and come quickly like a gazelle or a young hart and take me to our waiting home upon the mountains of spices!
Song of Solomon 8:14, Amplified Bible
Beautiful words! ❤️
Amen, dear friend! So thankful God included so much poetry and romance in the Bible, too!
Beautiful!
Truly, Grace, BEAUTIFUL is THE WORD for this! Love how we can read the Bible again and again then discover gems like this that were there all along but somehow are fresh and delightful!
I think I love the part that says, “the chief among ten thousand to her soul.” ♥️ That immediately puts all kids of beautiful images in my mind 😌.
Yes, what a Godly hero! Such poetic, rich wording that brings to mind so much. I forget sometimes that God is the Author of romance. This incredible Scripture reminds me of that all over again! Thank you for enjoying it with me!
That’s really beautiful, Laura. I like the part Stacey said, but also (when put together): “Joyfully the radiant bride turned to him and with unconcealed eagerness to begin her life of sweet companionship with him” …”with unconcealed eagerness” takes my breath away <3.
So appreciate your thoughts and joy in this, Susan! Yes, that wording is exquisite and such a picture of us as we enter into a relationship with Christ and also step eagerly into our heavenly home. Amazing Grace, indeed!
I’ve never read the Amplified Bible before I will have to check it out. This verse is stunning!
Being a fellow word lover, I think you’d find the Amplified version a wonder! I’m so thankful I discovered it and can pass that love on. Scripture never fails to amaze me, the benefit of the Living Word! Bless you for being here, Nicole!
Oh Laura I love that treasure !!!! Song of Solomon is my most Blessed Book! I have a most Blessed little Book by Hudson Taylor I think I mentioned it before but i will again The Name is Union and Communion and it is a most lovely little commentary on tha Most precious Gift from God!
You have such a beautiful way of expressing yourself, Mary Jill! So glad you saw this as this verse IS a treasure! I am going to look up this book from Taylor, surely one of the most amazing missionaries who served. I recall reading a biography about him years ago. Those older saints are so inspiring. They lived such lives of selfless service and hardship. Bless you for being here. I even love the book’s title! Thank you, dear friend.
