Again, I so appreciate your historical heart, Stephanie! This was quite an informative event and I must say I've never tasted better peas :) Think I'll make a batch for Easter dinner to go with that Honeybaked ham. We ARE so spoiled today. I used to think I was born 200 years too late but nope. I'm so grateful for my hot baths and French Press coffee!

That sounds like an event in every history lover's and historical writer's dreams. I know you have and will continue to put this knowledge to good use in your novels. We are so spoiled today, but am I ever thankful that we are!

Julia, Love getting some of your and your husband's backstory! Yes, indeed, those cooking episodes are so interesting - I'm about to hunt for the one our host Dragoo did on weird or strange foods at Martin's Station (or something like that). Like you, I'm thrilled to see such interest. Especially in light of the recent articles I've been reading about our historical illiteracy. I go to as many of the events at Fort Boonesborough as I can so this probably does show in my novels though this one wasn't geared toward a specific one :) Though my next frontier novel releases Jan 2020 and does have a cooking theme and as I'm about to get the novel back from my editors for edits, I might well tuck in some new knowledge :) Please stay tuned for a title and cover!

I hope you put it on your KY bucket list - your kiddos will like it, too! My favorite function at the fort is the Frontier Christmas. But this workshop was wonderful to tide me over :)

Mary Kay, I can't tell you how thankful I am that you have the heart to appreciate my work. Love that you honed in on one of my novel and also character traits personally, treating all equally. In fact, I omitted the most fascinating fact about that workshop. When the reenactors introduced themselves, one older gentleman said his family had served as doormen/doorman for the House of Burgesses in VA for 150 years. He was so proud and I was transfixed :) History in the tasting, indeed! Thank you for being here and always so encouraging!

Oh, lass, nothing like immersing yourself in the history you write about. 'Tis no wonder your stories come alive to us readers, and become wonderful friends!

I've emerged from my writing cave and caught up on your posts. One of the truths about your novels that I always share with other readers is the respect for all people, no matter station or race or rank, you show and that you honor true history ~ good, bad, and murky. Just one of the many, many reasons we here in this house read & re-read your books. Looking forward to the next few you described. Again, thank you for your wonderful stories. We love taking historic journeys with you.
